Whenever you read books relating to the mental attributes associated with winning or success in life you always come across the need for a strong sense of self. Put another way, you have to have a strong self-image and belief in your own strength to be able to win.

John Wooden, the renowned basketball player and coach, put it another way. "Ability may get you to the top, but it takes character to keep you there". The clear inference is thus that it is vitally important in a person who seeks to win and to succeed to be able to develop and maintain a strong sense of self.

John Wooden is also quoted as saying "Your reputation is what you are perceived to be. Your character is who you are". i.e. Your character is who you really are not merely what other people think, suspect, assume or perceive.

How many people do you think truly knows his or her own character? We humans are very adept at hiding things from others, but we are also pretty effective in hiding things from ourselves. Do you really know yourself? Do you know your strengths and your weaknesses and do you work to become stronger in character?

There are different aspects to a person’s sense of self. There is that which you are consciously aware of but also things that you are only aware of at a subconscious level. Sometimes your subconscious mind works very effectively in your favor, but at other times it may in fact have a sabotaging effect.

It requires a high degree of self-awareness to be able to "catch" your subconscious mind when it is working to your disadvantage and to persuade it along a different course. In a sporting situation such character can be seen at times when the pressure is on and the person in question overcomes nerves or tension and rises to the challenge that he or she is facing. This is just one example that shows the value of "character" in the sense that John Wooden was using it.

Such character is required of us in many varied situations in life. Hypnosis is a very helpful tool for use by any person who wants to win or who wishes to succeed. Hypnosis allows the user to connect between conscious and subconscious mental processes and to align subconscious expectations with conscious desires. It helps you to develop a greater degree of self-awareness and also to build strong character.

One major reason why successful people are successful is that they have harnessed the ability to focus 100% of their energy and attention into the things that they are doing. They see a vision and they focus their attention upon it. They are not easily distracted.

Many of us are not this focused. It’s all too easy to be working and yet not be totally focused. You perhaps have one eye on the clock, or you are thinking about the football game on Saturday, or what the kids are up to at the moment.

If you had to honestly complete a questionnaire that entailed scoring your degree of attention and focus during your working day what percentage do you think you would end up with? Very few people would even score 80%. A more realistic score is probably 60%.

If you were asked to complete a similar questionnaire with regards to your relaxation time what do you think your score would be? Now this answer is likely to be even more interesting. How many people truly switch off and totally focus upon their leisure activities.

Those of us who have a passionate interest in a sport as a part of their relaxation time are likely to score highly during those moments. But aside from that, when you drive, are you 100% focused upon driving? When you listen to music or watch the TV are you truly focused on that? When you are cooking, eating or reading how focused is your attention? Even when you are doing "you know what" are you truly focused?

The fact is that in our leisure time we are likely to be even less focused than in our work time. Thus how can we possibly expect to truly feel rested, refreshed or relaxed? And if your attention is not fully focused when at work, how can you truly expect the best results or gain any real feeling of achievement?

If you do not learn how to apply your focus upon the task in hand, be it work or play, you are cheating yourself of a whole lot of satisfaction, enjoyment and success. We do have the ability to focus our attention clearly upon one thing at a time, although this comes more easily to some of us than to others.

Sometimes all that is required is to be aware that you haven’t been clearly focused. Awareness is usually the first step in enabling the making of any change. Then the next step is making a decision to do something about it. Only when that decision has been made and you have in effect made a commitment to yourself to do something will you look around for ways in which you can help yourself.

Hypnosis is of great benefit to a person who wants to trigger his or her own ability to focus in the moment. Hypnosis will also help you to relax whilst at the same time it can be used to motivate and focus your attention upon success. Hypnosis is very flexible as it in effect allows you to access a different state of mind and focus upon the things that you wish to apply your attention towards.

Most of us are familiar with the DINKS abbreviation, which stands for Dual Income, No Kids. I came across another term the other day – DINS. This stands for Dual Income, No Sex. A friend laughingly joked that being a DINS leads to becoming a DINKS couple!

This is, however, no laughing matter. It has been found that happiness and a healthy sex life (i.e. more frequent) go hand in hand, although which comes first still provides a hot topic for debate.

Most DINS in fact do have kids, as well as both partners being out at work on a daily basis. With so many different high priority objectives seeking their attention, sex sadly takes a back seat or even gets thrown out of the window. Clearly there are a growing number of couples that fall into this trap, or this abbreviated term would never have been coined.

If you are involved in a DINS relationship it is probably well worth your while to take a small step back and re-examine your priorities in life. I’m not suggesting that you give up your dual income status or neglect your kids. Far from it. I’m merely suggesting that if happiness in your relationship is what you really want to achieve, then sex should come a little higher up on your list of priorities.

I know that sounds more than a little simplistic. You’re tired, you’re busy and you’re feeling tense and under pressure. You haven’t got time for sex. You’re not in the mood for sex.

And here lies the crux of the matter. If you were in the mood for sex you would make time for it. I agree that this is a chicken and egg situation. You could easily argue that if you had more time you would feel in the mood for sex. But that’s not a perspective to choose if you are looking to change your DINS status to one of "Happily married couple with healthy sex life".

Feelings and emotional connections are what trigger motivation in anything. And so to become motivated to get yourself more sex (and to feel happier because of this) you need to find ways in which you can put yourself in the mood for a little bit of spousal arousal.

There are many ways in which to do this. By prioritizing sex on your agenda and in your thoughts you will get your body moving in the right direction. Visual stimulation can be a good trigger; hence the number of soft-porn magazines around. Reading a romantic novel will often get a woman’s mind (and also that of a man) into the right mood, especially when you read the "juicy bits".

If there are other issues that stand between you and your spouse these need addressing. Don’t let anger or upsets fester and destroy your marriage. It’s not worth harboring grudges. Deal with them or let them go.

Perhaps a lack of sexual confidence also plays a part in allowing your relationship to take on the DINS status. Again, if this is the case, what’s stopping you from addressing this issue? If you don’t know how to deal with this then you might like to start by listening to a hypnosis mp3 recording designed to build your sexual confidence and enhance your libido.

There are many things that you can do so as to guard against becoming a DINS. You just have to decide that happiness in your relationship is a priority and you will naturally find your way to this end goal.

Having a good imagination is vital to making progress. Without a view of what you wish to achieve, or where you wish to be, how would you know what to do or where to start? Even the simplest of things requires you to imagine your goal so as to enable you to be successful.

If you were to set out to achieve the task of putting up your Christmas decorations, you would have to first be able to imagine them looking the way you wish them to look. If you had no imagination your Christmas lights could end up being hung in a tight and ugly ball instead of strung out in a manner that is pleasing to the eye.

In fact the role of imagination is to trigger both belief and motivation. Your imagination elicits an emotional reaction that in turn allows you to believe that you can find a way to do something and motivates you to get started out upon your task and to keep going until you get there.

Taking the example of handing your Christmas lights, by first imagining how you want them to look you get a good feeling about your ideas. You feel happy and excited. These feelings motivate you to think about the type of lights you want to have. Will they be white or colored? You become motivated to think about the length of lights you will require and how you will actually hang them.

Your imagination triggers and supports this emotional connection with your goals. It keeps you positively and powerfully energized to find a way in which to complete your task. The better your imagination, the greater the emotional reaction and the more powerfully you work towards your goals.

The Christmas lights example is extremely simplistic but it does adequately demonstrate the role that imagination plays in even the most menial tasks that we set out to achieve. Think for a moment now about what imagination does when the task is bigger and more "intangible". Imagination is what turns vague dreams into reality.

Imagination ignites belief. Imagination fires enthusiasm. Imagination is what shapes dreams and either pares them down or enlarges them so as to sharpen up one’s focus and trigger real creativity and practical creation. Imagination turns the intangible into the tangible.

Without the processes of imagination many of the things we take for granted would never have been invented. Washers and dryers, computers, telephones, the electric light bulb, motor cars, sofas, cushions, pool sweeps…All of these things and very many more all began in somebody’s imagination. And that imagination triggered an emotional reaction that inspired, enthused and motivated somebody to achieve his or her dreams.

If you would like to encourage your imagination to move in leaps and bounds then you might like to use hypnosis. In hypnosis your creative mind comes to the fore. It becomes easier to imagine things and to see them more clearly. Hypnosis is easy to use with the help of a hypnosis mp3 download. You don’t even have to leave home to use it. It’s quick, easy, simple and natural. It’s also a very powerful way in which you can trigger your imagination and turn your dreams into reality.

Stress: It is estimated that 13.5 million working days a year are lost as a result of stress. In Britain, it is estimated that one in six workers suffers with stress and those same people underperform at work by more than 30 per cent

Under Pressure: In a survey of 2,372 people, 99 per cent admitted feeling stressed out at some point every day. The survey found one in four people felt stressed for up to 30 minutes a day. Plus, because of stress, 49 per cent said they gained weight and 42 percent reported relationship trouble. It seems those in their thirties are worst affected, as they are fraught with anxiety about heavy workloads, job security, childcare and fear of failure.

Everyday Stress: The strains of modern day living, hectic lifestyles and the pressures of juggling a demanding job, social and family life are virtually unavoidable. Because everyday stress and strains increase the body’s nutritional requirements, the daily diet should include B vitamins, Vitamin C and certain amino acids to ensure that the body gets the nutrients it needs to respond appropriately. Where the diet may be lacking, a supplement can safeguard the dietary intake of these important nutrients. B vitamins help your body respond to demanding situations and vitamin C is required for the production of adrenaline.

Emotional Stress: Find a quite corner somewhere, sit down and count ten breaths – in and out counts as one. They don’t have to be big, deep breaths, just even and regular. Usually after about six or seven breaths you lose count and feel quite different. Your pulse rate slows down, your mind calms itself and your awareness comes back to your body. The problem may have even gone away, if not you will be much better placed to deal with it.

Effects of Stress on Companies: Stress cost industry over $150 billion a year in the US alone – through absenteeism and reduced levels of performance by those who are physically present but mentally absent. In the UK, as much as 60 per cent of all absenteeism is believed to be caused by stress related disorders. Anything that can reduce the damaging effects of stress makes workers happier and companies richer.

Emotion Signs of Stress: can include general irritability, acute anxiety attacks, depression, lack of libido, loss of a sense of humour, and an inability to concentrate on the simplest of routine task. Some of the most common indications of stress are: Becoming unnecessarily over-emotional or aggressive in conflict situations; Lost of interest in personal appearance, other people, social events, or previously enjoyed activities; Poor concentration, difficulty in remembering and an inability to make decisions; Sadness, guilt, fatigue, apathy and a pronounced feeling of helplessness or failure; Loss of confidence in personal ability, often coupled with lack of self-worth.

Stress brought on by dieting: is added to the personal and work life stresses that we face every day, often resulting in a "vicious cycle" of increased stress and increased food intake. Here are some things you can do: Tell yourself you’ll wait 10 to 30, minutes to eat. Chances are good if your cravings are only stress-related they’ll disappear when you allow yourself to become distracted; Keep a food journal of what you eat each day. Knowing you have to write down every

snack or nibble can be a good way to remind yourself to think before eating. Keep yourself nourished. Eat regular, healthy snacks to maintain your energy level. Skipping meals while under stress only prompts you to eat more, and unhealthily, when you do get around to eating; physically remove tempting food items from your home or office. Never go shopping while hungry and always make a list of food items prior to shopping; bring home only what you feel good about eating.

Our imagination and choice of focus inevitably shapes the future that we experience. Whatever we focus upon tends to become the reality that we experience. Although there are many things that are out of our own control where we choose to look and how we see things are what define our own lives.

Many of us go through life questioning what the future holds or trying to work out what might happen just around the corner. Some of us visit psychics and mediums in the hope of finding answers to some of our questions relating to the future. Others of us have a sense of futility or fatality about the future, thinking in terms of "what will be will be".

A smaller number of people actively work to invent their own future, irrespective of the circumstances that they are faced with. Steve Jobs was one person whose life was shaped by this pattern of thought. He shaped his own future and also the lives of many others because of his way of thinking.

His idea was to create "stuff" which made life easier and simpler. This goal led to the development of many gadgets that define our lives today. Having a goal is such a key thing in predicting a persons pathway and ability to invent and achieve things.

Many people try to approach life the opposite way around. By this I mean that they learn many techniques and parts of things without having an ultimate goal. Yet without that goal, they have no real purpose. They are learning nuts and bolts without having a plan to put them together to create a bigger whole.

Successful prediction of the future comes from being able to see a bigger picture than just individual parts. In seeing an ideal, or setting a definite goal what you in fact do is set your mind out on a particular pathway. The tasks or the goals in themselves lead to the learning of the necessary techniques to get you there. The task leads to the acquisition or discovery of technique.

Thus if you want to predict your future it is important to set your goals which in turn open your mind to relevant discovery, learning and success. Success usually begins from the top down rather than the bottom up.

Hypnosis is very useful in allowing you to set goals firmly in your mind and smooth your way to success. When in hypnosis your imagination comes to the fore and you can more clearly open your mind to new ideals and realities.

Moving house is always a stressful situation to find oneself in. It becomes even more stressful if the home that you are about to leave is one that you have built or lived in for many years.

To part with your family home can feel like cutting away a large chunk of your past. The act of selling that home feels so final. Your home has so many memories associated with it and you somehow feel closer to those times when you are within those walls. To move on to a new home reflects a huge change in both life and perspective.

Inevitably as you grow older you are more likely to find yourself in this type of situation. You perhaps no longer require the space that your family home affords, or can no longer manage to look after that space as easily as you had in the past. The kids have long grown up and embarked upon a life of their own. It can also feel lonely in a large family home with no kids to create noise and distractions.

Sometimes such a move is linked to the passing on of a spouse and this inevitably adds more emotional turmoil to the thought of moving. It is like you are cutting further away from your loved one and you can become afraid that your memories will fade. Logically you know that you need to move and that it is the most sensible decision, but this logical understanding does not make the emotional leap any the easier.

Friends and family will also have their input in your decision. Most will support your decision and do what they can to help. But sometimes ones offspring find the idea of parting with that family home difficult to handle too. Emotions can run high and stress levels soar.

What can you do to relieve this type of stress? This emotional turmoil isn’t made up. It is very real indeed and can keep you lying awake in bed at night questioning your decision and making it difficult to cope. A little understanding of the roles of logic and emotion will help one to appreciate what he or she can do to relax and relieve this stress.

When you feel upset or worried about something a hormonal reaction takes place in your mind and body. This happens automatically. In recognizing that this emotional reaction is normal, you can choose to take a conscious step back and apply your mind to soothing these physical reactions.

Breathing deeply, meditating or using self-hypnosis are great ways in which to do just this. They are great because they are easy. Hypnosis in particular can play a huge role in assisting you as you can take the process a step further. You can use this receptive state to implant suggestions into your subconscious mind to reassure yourself that everything is going to be all right.

Obsessive tendencies can usually be seen in the most successful of people. Arguably it is their obsessive nature that propels them with such determination in their direction of interest and expertise.

A distinction should be drawn between compulsions and obsessions. Compulsive behavior is displayed by a powerful emotional urge to do a particular task, usually repetitively. An obsession could be described more as a preoccupation with something, a domination of one’s thoughts with a particular thought, goal or idea. There is also a potential element of overlap that in extreme cases is evidenced by obsessive-compulsive behavior (OCD).

Reverting to the benefits of having an obsessive nature, it can be seen that such preoccupation triggers a state of greater focus upon the task in hand. The more you focus upon a goal the more likely you are to find a way in which to achieve it.

This natural ability to apply a state of virtual tunnel vision is powerful thing indeed. Like most things in life this ability can be a double-edged sword. One edge is of benefit to you whilst the other has the opposite effect.

When tunnel vision is applied to a negative purpose or goal the results can be quite uncomfortable or even disastrous. But so long as obsessive tendencies are applied to a positive goal they will be of great benefit to you and the world around you. The important point is to carefully choose the direction of your focus and ensure that your mind is pointing in the direction that you wish to travel.

For those people who would like to experience success one obvious thing to do is to examine and emulate the traits of the most successful people. Even if virtual tunnel vision and clear focus do not come naturally to you, these abilities can be learned. Hypnosis can speed up this process.

Hypnosis is in itself it is a state of focused awareness. Additionally, whilst in hypnosis you have access to your subconscious mind. This is the part of your mind where instinctive thought patterns and behaviors are stored. Thus with hypnosis you are provided with an opportunity to access, identify and change these types of thoughts and behaviors.

With hypnosis you can more easily focus your mind and set clear goals so as to pave your way to success. Hypnosis is natural and it is easy to use.
